Uma das espécies mais comuns de baratas em nossas cidades tem o nome científico de Blatella germânica, e são popularmente conhecidas como “baratas de padaria” ou “francesinhas”. São insetos pequenos de cor marrom-avermelhada. Essa espécie, que hoje é encontrada em quase todo o planeta, tem origem no sul da Ásia e se dispersou tomando “carona” nas grandes viagens feitas pelo homem ao redor do mundo. Desde que foram introduzidas no Brasil, encontraram ótimas condições de clima e inúmeras fontes de abrigo e alimento em nossas construções, o que permitiu sua rápida expansão pelo território e infestação de várias instalações, especialmente as de produção, armazenamento e comércio de alimentos, um dos motivos pelos quais é considerada uma praga de enorme impacto econômico.
Além das perdas para a economia, as baratas de padaria também são um problema de saúde pública. Podem transportar e transmitir agentes de doenças, como bactérias e vírus, que carregam em suas patas, e outras partes do corpo, contaminando as superfícies e objetos por onde passam. Esses patógenos podem causar doenças gastrointestinais e intoxicações alimentares em humanos.
As baratas de padaria têm um ciclo de vida rápido, com três estágios principais: ovo, ninfa e adulto, e apresentam alta capacidade reprodutiva, pois uma fêmea pode colocar até 50 ovos de cada vez, o que contribui para a rápida infestação por essa espécie.
Tanto em instalações comerciais, como em nossas casas as baratas francesinhas são atraídas por restos de comida, migalhas, grãos e resíduos de óleo e gordura. Ambientes escuros, quentes e úmidos são propícios para sua reprodução e sobrevivência.
Para prevenir e controlar suas infestações é essencial adotar as seguintes medidas de higiene e saneamento:
1. Manter limpeza rigorosa em todas as áreas das instalações, removendo resíduos de alimentos, migalhas e sujeira.
2. Armazenar alimentos adequadamente em recipientes bem fechados, para evitar o acesso das baratas.
3. Verificar regularmente e eliminar possíveis fontes de água, pois as baratas também precisam de água para sobreviver.
4. Realizar inspeções regulares para identificar e corrigir possíveis pontos de entrada das baratas, como rachaduras em paredes, frestas em portas e janelas, e vazamentos de encanamento. Verificar todos os materiais que trazemos para dentro de casa. É muito comum transportarmos essas baratas, ou seus ovos em eletrodomésticos, caixas de papelão e embalagens, produtos alimentares, móveis etc.
5. Utilizar barreiras físicas, como telas e vedações, para impedir o acesso das baratas às áreas de preparo de alimentos.
6. Considerar o uso de medidas de controle químico, como inseticidas apropriados, sob a orientação de empresas e profissionais especializados em controle de pragas.
